SPARK Park at AIMS Public Hours

The SPARK Park at AIMS in First Montrose Commons is open to the public when school is not in session during the hours listed below.  As with all HISD-owned property – NO GLASS or ALCOCHOL or SMOKING is permitted at any time.

We ask that you NOT WEAR METAL CLEAT SHOES on the soccer pitch as they are damaging the artificial turf.

A copy of the SPARK Park’s operating rules can be downloaded here.

Hours:

School Days 4pm-8:15pm

Non School Days 7am – 8:15pm
Central Daylight Time

NOTICE – If you have an event in the SPARK Park you are REQUIRED TO REMOVE ALL TRASH, DECORATIONS, FOOD & DRINK CONTAINERS.  Leaving these in the trashbins provided attracts animal scavengers at night (rats, raccoons, possums). Please help us keep our park clean and healthy – LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND!

You should report persons trespassing in the SPARK Park (soccer games, etc.) after hours to
HISD POLICE DISPATCH 713-892-7777

NOTICE- The soccer pitch is for use by children and their accompanying parents, coaches, or guardians only. Adults using the pitch will be asked to leave to make it available to the children.

If you see work being done within the FMC Historic District but there has not been an Application for Certificate of Appropriateness sign posted – please report it immediately to 311 and the FMC Historian. We must all work together to protect and preserve our historic structures!

HPD’s Westheimer Storefront is now permanently closed and demolished to make way for The Montrose Collective. Please continue to report incidents to HPD via the non-emergency number 713-884-3131.

POLICE PATROLS
ARE
DATA DRIVEN

NO REPORTS = NO PATROLS

The No Trespass Affidavit is a particularly powerful tool to use to prevent vagrants from sleeping on your property. With it in place, HPD officers can arrest trespassers without you being present and charge them with a Class B Misdemeanor – resulting in at least 24 hrs incarceration.

Why am I not receiving FMC emails or Newsletters?

FMC sends out monthly email blasts using MailChimp, an email marketing provider that does not charge our non-profit organization to send you notices and newsletters. Although we’re very careful to format our emails to avoid spam filters, some of you have reported that you’re not getting any of our announcements or newsletters.

It may be that you have unsubscribed from our email list. This is especially easy to do if you are using the iPhone iOS Mail client, because it puts the unsubscribe from this list button right below the message header in emails. If you think this has happened to you – the fix is easy – click on the SUBSCRIBE TO NEWSLETTER FREE item on the left menu on our home page. Or Resubscribe by clicking HERE.

Most of the problems are connected with the GMAIL email service, which automatically categorizes every incoming message according to its own inscrutable and oft-changing algorithms. For example, Google often considers emails containing links to be “Promotions” and files them in GMail’s Content/Promotions folder – a folder that is not normally visible to most GMail users. The surest way around this feature is to add president@firstmontrosecommons.org to your GMail Contacts – since GMail does not classify emails from your contacts as Promotions or as Spam.

Another method – which instructs GMail not to classify emails from FMC as Promotions  – can be found here

Click the image for instructions on how to prevent GMail from sending your FMC mail into the hidden Promotions Folder
